Technical Nerikomi 101: An Introduction to Coloured Clay November 30, 2025, 1:30 PM - 6 PM, $200 Open to adults with handbuilding experience Please bring a notebook to take notes, all other supplies included Dive into the colourful world of nerikomi in this intensive, knowledge-packed workshop hosted by Celina Frisson @CreativeTraveller and designed for potters with previous handbuilding experience. In this 4-5 hour class, students will explore the art of layering and slicing stained clay to create uniquely patterned slabs using the nerikomi technique. Use your slabs to hand build a mug and take the rest home for personal use. We’ll begin with an introduction to mason stains, covering essential safety information and usage. Each student will receive three pre-mixed colours of mason-stained clay, prepared in advance by Celina, and will learn how to build and manipulate a nerikomi block to create dynamic, colorful designs. Students typically complete one mug, with leftover patterned scraps often available for small additional objects. Please note: this class moves at a fast pace and covers a wealth of information—students often find it helpful to bring a notepad for taking notes. Open to adults
