Service Description

In this flexible beginners class, learn to create pottery at the table. Saturday Hand-building class is designed for students with little to no experience; students often take this class multiple times. Explore the multitude of techniques accessible to ceramic artists and potters without the potter's wheel. Our enthusiastic instructor, Bari, will teach us how to make cups, bowls, plates, and sculptural forms using simple, accessible techniques. The syllabus includes pinch, coil and slab work in clay to make various functional and non-functional items. Projects may include birdhouses, small ornamental sculptures, and dishes such as plates, cups and bowls. Dishes made at our studio are dishwasher and microwave-safe. Students benefit from the ability to transfer these skills to doing work at home later on their own and then firing it at our studio. Hanbuilding also gives us so many more options than the potters wheel. Our creativity can shine. Students must be ages 14+ Bari Precious has been a professional potter for over 30 years and is well informed and energetic. This attentive instructor will provide a hands-on atmosphere. We will be at our new location at 115 Chapel Street. On weekends and evenings, parking is free on the street. The price includes $45 bag of clay. WHAT TO BRING An apron or hand towel. *Cancellations & Missed Classes Missed classes can be made up by booking a complimentary Studio Drop-In. This is automatically compensated to you through your attendance in class and must be used within two weeks of the class finishing. Full refunds are given for cancellations made 14 days before class. After that date, we will do our best to fill your space. If we do, we will refund you minus a $45 office fee. No refunds are given once the class has started. We are located at 115 Chapel Street. City parking is available in the parade behind the RBC
