Service Description
Discover the magic of wet felting: the alchemy of wool, water and agitation in the making of an incredible variety of two- and three-dimensional forms. In this 6 week beginners' course, your instructor Megan will introduce you to creating the world's oldest known fabric: felted wool. You will learn the basic techniques for wet felting both 2D and 3D objects, including layouts, surface design with craters and cracks, embellishing with silk and other fabrics, and shaping your objects. Materials are provided although you need to bring your own large bath towel, a hand towel, and a pair of sharp scissors. While the course is geared to those with no experience, if you have a little, you will benefit by Megan's guidance in developing your skills and creativity with wool. Come prepared to let free your laughter, ideas and imagination. Open to adults and older teens. About your instructor: Megan Arundel is a self-taught artist. As a painter, she was a member of the Canadian Federation of Artists, had solo gallery shows and taught watercolour classes. Wool is now her medium of choice, and wet felting the process in which she highlights the textures and earthy colours of nature. Megan has been teaching felting workshops and short courses for several years and she is always thrilled with the creative outcomes of the participants.
