Watercolour Explorations with Lawrence Bowhay 8-Week Introductory Course for Adults (16+) Discover the luminous beauty and expressive qualities of watercolor in this 8-week introductory course. Through a combination of technical exercises and small-scale works, students will develop foundational skills while exploring colour washes, layering, wet-on-wet, dry brush techniques, density, and a variety of painting surfaces—from traditional watercolor paper to Mylar. This course offers a balance between guided technique and personal expression. Participants are encouraged to bring reference materials from their own lives, working toward vibrant landscapes, still lifes, and abstract pieces. Instructor Lawrence Bowhay is a down-to-earth educator who tailors his teaching to each student’s level, creating a warm and welcoming studio environment. Based in Calgary, Lawrence brings over 20 years of teaching experience in painting, drawing, and illustration. He holds a BFA in Drawing with a minor in Anthropology from the Alberta College of Art and Design, as well as a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communications. He has taught extensively at both the community and college levels. Materials - we will have most materials, but if you have watercolour brushes please bring those. No prior experience is needed—just a curiosity to explore and create. Ages 16+
