About the Event

Space, time and the constraints of motherhood seeped into Sarah's work while she was busy making pottery. This observation for Sarah let her lean into this imagery of organic monsters. With the assistance of an Artist in Residency in Dawson City, Yukon, she has been able to set aside studio time, often contained within the hours of a sleeping child, a body of emotive ceramic beings and tile paintings.

‘Naptime Vocation’ is ~loosely~ exploring the transition into my new ambiguous identity of ‘mom’. It’s stepping into being over-saturated and underslept. It’s rediscovering play and the surreal wonder of exploration. It’s a million little hands and creatures all over everything. It’s new [clay] bodies. It’s chaotic and fun and doesn’t entirely make perfect sense.

It’s also made almost entirely during naptime!
