Service Description

In this intensive three-hour hand-building class workshop with Sandy Harquail, we will begin by learning how to prepare, store, and handle slabs. Through a balance of demonstration and hands-on exploration, we will create a form, dish, or vessel that accentuates squared edges and curves. The focus will be on learning to fold and connect soft slabs with both intent and intuition. Conversations will be encouraged on abstraction and sculpture. This class is designed for students with some clay experience. Sandy Harquail is a two-time award winner of the Saltspring Island Ceramics show, a dedicated artist, and a ceramic educator. to learn more about Sandy, please visit her site The price includes clay and bisque fire. Participants are welcome to return during Drop-in time to glaze, or for an additional fee, pieces can be glazed and shipped to you. Please bring an apron. 115 Chapel Street.

For cancellation of one-day classes please contact the studio, do not use the online system. Refunds are available if you cancel 14 days before Make-it-nights, and 3 hrs before drop-in starts. Please note late cancellations or no-shows for drop-ins will be charged unless the spot is filled.
