Service Description

Wet felting - not to be confused with dry (needle) felting – is the alchemy of wool, water and agitation in the making of an incredible variety of two- and three-dimensional forms. In this 6 week beginners' course, your instructor Megan will introduce you to creating the world's oldest known fabric: felted wool. You will learn the basic techniques for wet felting both 2D and 3D objects, including layouts, surface design with craters and cracks, manipulation of fabrics and shaping your objects. Materials are provided although you need to bring your own large bath towel, a hand towel, and a pair of sharp scissors. While the course is geared to those with no experience, if you have a little, you will benefit by guidance in developing your skills and creativity with wool. Come prepared to let free your laughter, ideas and imagination. Open to adults and older teens. About your instructor: Megan Arundel is a self-taught artist. She has been a member of the Canadian Federation of Artists, had solo gallery shows and taught watercolour classes. Her work with felting reflects her grounding in the west coast environment, highlighting the textures and earthy colours of this part of the world. Megan has been teaching felting workshops and is always thrilled with the outcomes of the participants, teaching a full course of lessons will be a more intensive and satisfying experience for both herself and the participants.
