What is your relationship with the natural world? How do you connect with and understand all of the beauty, mysteries and non-human creatures around you? In this workshop we will explore nature through new perspectives, observing the intricate forms, textures, patterns and beauty that can be found all around us! The workshop will begin with gaining inspiration from the environment around us and collecting materials from the beach for our projects. Back at the workspace, you will be guided through a step-by-step creation of a handbuilt ceramic vase. Some techniques that will be explored are creating a slab and cylinder, creating and attaching a bottom, darting techniques, shape variation, how to apply texture with found materials and other decorative techniques. This workshop will be a really unique opportunity for intuitive creation as we merge inspiration from nature with the innate creative energies within ourselves. When: Sunday June 12th 11:00am-3:00pm Location: Pipers Beach What to bring: A large shirt or apron if you'd like to protect your clothes from the clay (clay washes out easily). Also bring a lunch, water and a sun hat :) * There are bathrooms nearby our work area * No clay experience necessary * Clay, kiln firings and glaze are included * You will get to choose a glaze colour for your piece and it will be available to pick up in 2 weeks
